A homeowner’s guide to well maintenance and navigating public environmental records pertaining to your family’s well.
This class is designed by the EPA and the University of Illinois to help homeowners better understand how to properly care for their water well so as to ensure their water remains safe to drink. By understanding the basic science of water wells, following best practices to maintain and protect water supplies, and learning how to navigate historical records and groundwater monitoring in your area, this class will provide a homeowner the tools needed to ensure a safe water supply and help extend the life of the well. Class will include free well owner’s guidebooks from the NGWA, as well as free field coliform testing supplies.
The class will be taught by Jennie Ford, an environmental scientist who loves Florida and its ecology. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science and a Master’s of Science in Geology from the University of Florida (insert compulsory Go Gators! here); and has been working with SERCAP for almost two years as an environmental educator. She has formerly worked with the Florida Department of Health as their well water and SUPER act survey specialist, and is currently studying to be a certified GIS specialist.
