Meeting RoomCome explore nutrition and literacy through fun, family friendly activities in this four part series! This program is in partnership with Books and Cooks & New Worlds Reading Initiative.
Books and Cooks, from UF IFAS, is partnering with the New Worlds Reading Initiative to offer nutrition lessons and information about the New Worlds Reading Initiative.
UF Presenter and Educator for Books and Cooks, Sarah Williams, will host four nutrition workshops. Parents and children (ages 4-11) will receive free books, a chance to sign up for the New Worlds Reading Initiative, and a chance to learn about healthy eating habits. Each lesson also includes an interactive cooking demo (kids participate!)
4 available workshops:
- 7/9: Kitchen safety—kids make fruit skewers and use age-appropriate plastic knives
- 7/16: Natural vs. added sugar—make infused water learn about the sugar content in common drinks
- 7/23: MyPlate—kids learn about the daily intake and serving of different food groups
- 7/30: Whole Grains and fiber—learn about different types of whole grains and make a seasoning mix for popcorn

Cone Park Branch
The Cone Park Branch is a collaborative effort between the Library and Partnership for Strong Families. It serves as a resource center and a library, providing access to resources and services in East Gainesville and surrounding areas.
