In honor of Native American Heritage Month, we will focus on the art of patchwork using paper to create colorful designs.
Patchwork refers the textile art form unique to the Seminole and Miccosukee cultures, in which many small pieces of cloth are sewn together in bands, cut, and then rearranged to make intricate geometric patterns. The bands are then sewn together to create clothing.
Instead of fabric, we will be using colorful paper. We will glue strips of paper together, cut them, and rearrange them into simple designs. All supplies will be provided; if you have any questions, please call (352)-333-2840.
