Come and be a part of the Read-In at the Alachua Library for Black History Month.
Join us at the Alachua Library on Sunday, February 24 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm to hear community leaders and citizens read passages, poems, and stories by Black authors. For over a decade, people have gathered at the Alachua Library to honor the Black experience as told through the literary arts. Come and listen to the wisdom, humor, and strength of character revealed in these works. You are also welcome to read your favorite passage, poem or story by an African-American author or you can select from the materials we have selected.
The national African-American Read-In, sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English, has become a traditional part of Black History Month celebrations and over 6 million people have participated around the world since the first Read-In was held in 1990. Our event is sponsored by the Alachua Friends of the Library. Come and be a part of the Read-In at the Alachua Library.
The Alachua Branch Library provides access to resources and services in the City of Alachua and surrounding areas.
