The National Society of Black Engineers members and volunteers will present STEM experiments and speak about the importance of education. Food will be provided in the outdoor program area afterwards.
The purpose of A Walk for Education (AWFE) is to increase awareness and spread information about the educational opportunities available to the community. To begin the event members will walk through the neighborhoods in the area, and volunteers will hand out informational pamphlets on higher education to local residents.
After the walk, community members are invited to join The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) members and volunteers at the Alachua County Library Tower Road Branch to enjoy STEM Related Experiments. Some examples of the STEM Experiments for the audience may include DIY Silly Putty, Lava Lamp or Cloud in a Bottle. These fun activities will be open to all community youth. After the experiments food will be provided in the Outdoor Program Area.
The NSBE mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. Through AWFE, our members are able to positively affect the professional and academic success of future generations of engineers from our local area. We hope to see you there!
