Kids will celebrate Black History Month by decorating a flowerpot before learning about the amazing achievements of scientist George Washington Carver and mixing soil to grow flowers in their pots.
This fun, hands-on program blends history, science, and creativity. First, kids will learn about the importance of Black History Month before decorating black flowerpots in honor of the annual observance. Next, they will learn about the life and achievements of George Washington Carver before diving into soil science and mixing their own soil. Finally, after learning about seeds and flowers, kids will plant red and yellow flower seeds and water their pots for the first time.
As their flowers grow and bloom in the following weeks and months, kids will see all the colors of Black History Month (black, red, yellow, and green) come together in one beautiful, living display.
