Do you know who your ancestors are? Want to learn how to begin your family research? Searching for your African American ancestors can be challenging.
In this program you will learn how to start researching your family tree. Come to the Library Partnership to learn about your African American ancestors and talk about ways to overcome challenges faced by those working on African-American genealogy
Genealogy librarian Caroline Huguet will show how to navigate census, military, birth records, and other national records to learn more about family history. We will also look at Ancestry’s new Africa Collections as well as the Reference Materials that the Headquarters library has relating to African Americans.

The Library Partnership: A Neighborhood Resource Center, is a collaborative effort between the Alachua County Library District, Partnership for Strong Families, Department of Children and Families, and United Way of Central Florida. The center is designed as a one-stop resource for a variety of programs which included a full-service library branch. Approximately 30 different agencies provide programing on site.
