The Alachua County Library District, with staff from the University of Florida’s Center for Children's Literature and Culture, hosts a Mock Caldecott event at our Headquarters Library on Sunday, January 19, at 1:30pm. We will review the best picture books of 2019r, and vote for our top picks. Together, we will pick the best of the best. This event is open to picture book lovers of all ages. Will Alachua County choose the REAL winner that will be announced January 27?
Each year the American Library Association honors books, videos and other outstanding materials for children and teens. Recognized worldwide for the high quality they represent, the ALA Youth Media Awards (including the prestigious Newbery, Caldecott, Printz, and Coretta Scott King Book Awards) guide parents, educators, librarians and others in selecting the best materials for youth.
The 2020 Youth Media Award announcements will take place during the American Library Association’s Midwinter Conference on Monday, January 27, at 8:00am from the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA.
The Headquarters Library provides access to resources and services in the City of Gainesville and surrounding areas. It also serves as the headquarters of Alachua County Library District.
